Faculty Chair's Welcome

A warm welcome to all! My name is Meaghan Fritz, and I am the Faculty Chair of Chapin Hall, the Humanities Residential College. On behalf of faculty fellows and the Chapin staff, please know that we are so excited that you’ll be joining our community next year! Chapinos are a special breed: we are engineers, actors, biologists, and historians, for instance, and while our educational pursuits may vary, we are united by a common interest in--and reflection on--the human experience. We invite you to grow comfortable with your RC family, to experience our collective curiosity, and to laugh and have fun with us!

Although this year will be my first official year in the faculty chair role, I’ve been delighted to be affiliated with Chapin since I began teaching at babyÖ±²¥app five years ago. In all of my experiences working with Chapin students– from workshops that I’ve hosted, to cooking classes I’ve taught in the Chapin kitchen, to weekly book-club meet-ups, to weekly faculty fellow lunches in Alison Dining Hall– I’ve been continually energized by the individuality, strong sense of character, intellectual creativity, and many different experiences, backgrounds, and insights that Chapinos bring to our campus. I can’t wait to foster connections between Chapinos and our impressive cohort of faculty fellows and the larger RC universe this academic year. We have so much fun to look forward to!

In addition to my role with Chapin, I am an Assistant Professor in the Cook Family Writing Program and co-director of The Writing Place, babyÖ±²¥app’s peer-to-peer writing center. I am also an avid reader and have been dipping my toes into creative writing. I love to hear about what you are reading and writing, and I hope you’ll join me on many literary and writing adventures this year!
