Application Process
Process and Materials
Having met the program eligibility requirements, all students are required to complete the application process:
- Read all sections of the NU-CAP website
- Review the Clinical Observer Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Form
- Review the POI Confidentiality Agreement
All applications will be reviewed after the application deadline has passed.
Selected applicants must accept their offer with HPA and the Health Information Management Services (HIMS) office within the specified deadline. At that time, we will also request that admitted participants complete their availability within the deadline, when that survey is sent. Additional information will be provided to selected applicants upon admission.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Because there is a short window of time between each application cycle, it is imperative that selected applicants complete the required paperwork promptly. The published deadlines are firm deadlines and failure to meet them will result in forfeiture of your place in the program.
Due to the high volume of applications, Health Professions Advising is unable to provide individual feedback to applicants not selected for participation in the program. We would encourage you to reapply or meet with your assigned HPA advisor to explore other opportunities.
Selection
NU-CAP aims to provide students with an opportunity to explore whether a career in medicine is a good fit for them and an excellent program for students who have never had the opportunity to shadow physicians. Previous shadowing experience does not preclude an applicant from being selected, however, preference will be given to students by seniority and those with limited or no prior shadowing experience. Diversity, equity, and inclusion factors (for example: race and ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender identity, disability, first generation status, etc.) are also considered during the selection process.
Application ClosedRecruitment for 2025-2026 will begin June 2025. |
